Occasionally I set up a creative shoot for my team to help them learn or get more comfortable with new photography techniques. Using off camera flash and direct flash can be intimidating and challenging when you don't have much experience with it. We set up a fun edgy photo shoot using flash photography for a creative shoot at The Studio at Sarah B in downtown York, PA with Jordan and Chuck.

The industrial vibe at this studio is my favorite and made for the perfect setting for this edgy photo shoot. We made use of the white brick wall, and the disco ball before we headed outside to capture some fun images with Chuck's vintage red Mercedes.

Incorporating a vintage car in your edgy photo shoot:

A vintage car can add so much character to your photo session especially when the car has sentimental value. Chuck brought his gorgeous vintage red Mercedes for us to use to capture some nighttime flash photography images. We used the car headlights for some extra fun.

Flash photography can be tricky—especially in edgy, high-contrast shoots. A Black's screen is a great pre-shoot tool to test flash intensity, shadow depth, and highlight balance. Perfect for setups like Jordan and Chuck’s industrial shoot, it helps ensure lighting adds drama without overpowering the mood or unique setting.
